Detailed description of the position

The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.


As T&C Manager, you arrive in early stage of the project to work with the team in charge of the design before executing the T&C activates on site. You will prepare, plan and execute the whole Testing and commissioning process. This process is to be deployed for several Tramway projects in The Midlands (UK).

Your main duties and responsibilities are the following:
.coordinating the production of the T&C documentation: testing procedure, etc…
.participating in design activities: checking specifications, verifying prerequisites for testing and commissioning with the system engineering approach
.managing the interfaces with the different entities during the preparation of the T&C and during on site activities
.defining the pre-requisites and the priorities for the T&C planning
.witnessing factory acceptance test
.planning and coordinating the site tests
.coordinating with all teams and local authorities the necessary means for the realisation of the tests
.ensuring that the configuration management is in place
.organising progress meeting and preparing periodical reports
.ensuring that the T&C process and the team on site are fully compliant with the directives of HSE
.ensuring the interface with the Design team and the Change management during the tests
.defining the T&C team and manage these team in all phases the project.


.Bachelor or MSc in an Engineering discipline, a degree in Electro-mechanical engineering is a plus, you are familiar with working in and around live electrified railway/tram systems
.5+ years experience in the field of Urban railway installation, preferably on light rail infrastructure projects
.Previous experience in the Testing & Commissioning of rail infrastructure projects, in particular T&C of Rolling Stock, Traction Power Substations and Catenary, SCADA systems, Automatic Vehicle Location Systems, Urban .Traffic equipment and urban auxiliary equipment
.Knowledge in 17th edition of BS7671 standard
.Knowledge of HSE regulations
.On site management of subcontractor and internal teams
