Detailed description of the position

The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.


As Alliance Safety Manager , you sit in the Engineering team and participate in the design and integration activities, in particular those related to the system and sub systems safety requirements.

Your main duties and responsibilities are the following:

-deploying the safety process within various tramway projects
-ensuring the safety, advice on whole System design
-ensuring the safety, advice on whole System design
-reporting on the safety analysis and compliance
-proposing action plan for reaching the safety performance
-maintaining a safety management performance
-providing key interface on behalf of the MMA to the authorities involved in the project with regard to safety matters
-establishing the System Safety Case, integrating the Safety Cases of all sub systems, and ensuring the completeness and acceptance
-producing all deliverables related to the safety process (plan, PHA, …)
-organising the Project Safety reviews
-carrying out the Safety Analysis at system level and sub-systems level.
-coordinating the safety activities of suppliers/subcontractors
-managing the project team involved in safety activities


Engineer (Bachelor or MSc in engineering)
5+ years overall experience in rail projects, tramway experience will be a +
good knowledge of EN 50126 standard and ALARP principle
familiar with the UK Office of Rail and Road Regulations (ROGS)
familiar to the System engineering process (ISO 15288)
