Detailed description of the position

The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.


As RAM Engineer, you sit in the Engineering team and participate in the Design activities, in particular in those related to the System Assurance.

Your main duties and responsibilities are the following:

-establishing and managing the detailed Engineering RAM Strategy and Management Plans and support processes.
-deciding of methods of RAM assurance to be applied on the project, in accordance with the relevant standards and guidance in UK and owner's requirements
-carrying out the RAM analysis at system level and sub-system level
-coordinating the RAM activities of suppliers and subcontractors
-managing the project teams involved in RAM
-undertaking work to quantify the expected performance of the railway in terms of RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) targets.


Bachelor or MSc in an engineering discipline
5+ years of experience as a RAM within different industries (Aerospace, Defence, Space, Military, Nuclear, Chemical) including railways.
Experience of international projects in particular of "UK like" contractual environment
UK experience of the application of systems engineering appreciated
Competencies in RAM activities and methodology
Experience of RAM Management as applied to railway
Familiar with EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129 standards
Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team
